The Marlin is not quite as classic looking, but it has a heavy target barrel, a wider forend, is a true take-down model and has that microgrove. Both have that pistol grip and nice lumber. The Win. has rimfire scope grooves while the Marlin is drilled and tapped. P.S. Keep one and get the other is not an option.

AFAIK, that's only true for CF Model 94 receivers - Model 9422's have always been produced from drop-forged steel.
